day ten!
Meet my new buddies Michael and Lucas!
Today my mom's dental office participated in the annual Corn Festival Parade.
I have no idea why the city she works in has a Corn Festival every year, but we had never been involved in it before. When she told me that her office would be walking in the parade, I volunteered my services to join them in the... interesting event.
It was very easy to meet the feisty Michael and Lucas! While waiting for my mom's co-workers to arrive, I quickly bonded with them as they retold the stories of Michael's grand adventures at soccer camp the previous week. It's kind of hard not to talk to someone when you're shoved together in the back seat of a mini-van piled high with a wagon and bags of candy...
As we walked in the parade and the heat started to get to them, they hopped in the wagon I was pulling and we were able to talk a little bit more.
Michael was a chatter-box! He didn't even need to be prompted for a fun fact... he readily supplied me with many! The most impressive being that his team won "The World Cup" and that he was voted MVP. You go, bud!
Lucas, on the other hand, was more of an observer. While he did enjoy talking and handing out candy at the parade, he seemed content to sit in the wagon and take in everything that was happening. His mom told me that that is his favorite thing to do.. sit and watch :)
As the parade drew to a close and we went to part ways, it was a little sad to leave them. I had such a good time listening to their stories and their adventures. To me, listening to 'little' kids talk about the world is such an uplifting experience. The world is their oyster and they have such a fun and innocent view of everything. I wished them luck with their future endeavors... and I hope that Michael can live his dream of being a professional soccer player :) I'm not sure what Lucas wants to do 'when he grows up', but if his interest stays with observing, I could totally see him being a secret agent. He was pretty sneaky...
Now go talk to a little kid.
It'll make you smile.
Thanks for reading! Until tomorrow...
