to my journey
It's also one of the most exciting and intimidating times I have ever had to anticipate.
As I head off into my first year of this (hopefully) wonderful experience I'm full of so many questions:
What will my first lecture be like? Will I like the food in the dining halls? What happens if I accidentally go to the wrong lecture hall? Will I get along with my roommates? Will I be able to survive in a small dorm room shared with three other people? What do I REALLY want to do with my life? Will I be certain this is the right path for me? Who will I meet? Will I make friends? What kind of friends will they be? How will we meet? Will I like the people in my classes? |
What will other people think of me?
What will I think of myself?
These questions seem like enough to drive anyone crazy. And they had caused me a lot of anxiety until I had a realization... College is a time of unknowns, yes... But it is also a time of newness.
At orientation I realized that nobody there knew me. They had no preconceived idea of the person that I am. Nobody cared who or what I "was" in High School. Nobody knew who I hung out with or which activities I was involved in.

New beginnings. New locations. New classes.
It's all so fresh. And guess what? It's new for everyone. |
They only know me as Becca. (That's my name, by the way. Nice to meet you!)
And that was such a powerful idea for me.
A new start, and a new me.

with all of that being said...
See where I'm going with this?
Well...This is where the blog comes in!
Previously I have been nervous to go up to new people. Too afraid of what they would think of me. I am a confident person, sure, but it tends to get hidden underneath the questions and over-thinking. I decided that with this new start staring me right in the face, I am going to unleash my inner confidence. And *gasp* meet new people.
A new person each day, to be exact.
Yes.
I am going to meet a new person every single day while I am on campus.
But why wait? No reason. So I won't.
My 21 Day Challenge (it takes 21 days for something to become a habit... how cool, right?!) began August 1, 2014. It was perfect timing, really, because move-in day comes August 21! I have 21 days to meet new people and learn something about them.
I'm a sucker for fun facts!
So here I go. Off on my journey... Meeting new people and learning about them. Taking a picture with them (because picture or it didn't happen...) and getting some basic info... Name, age, etc. AND A FUN FACT!
This is experience will help me learn so much about new people and new cultures... and also about myself.
